Selecting the right pot and soil– Choose the pot with drainage holes to prevent water from pooling around the roots that which can effect the root-rot. Use well mixture of cocopeat, tree barks, vermicompost , carbonized, Rice husk and gardening soil that will retain moisture without becoming water logged on over water.

Watering and care– Philodendron prefer to consistently moisture of soil, in case of over watered it will harm to root-rot. So, before watering allow the top inch of soil to dry out, If the top inch soil is almost dry, then water it thoroughly until the excess moisture drains out of the bottom of the pot. During the growing season , water more amount to grow well. But, during winter season reduce the amount of watering. Because it grow slow down on winter. If you noticed the leaf’s are turning yellow or drop downward, it may be the sign of overwatering

Fertilizing– Fertilize your philodendron every 4 to 6 weeks during the growing season, to balance the strength use liquid fertilizer, this will provide the plant with nutrients, it needs to support healthy growth. Avoid fertilizing during the winter months, because on winter this plants is on dormancy.

Pruning and maintenance– To encourage a new growth pruning is very important, remove any dead or yellowing stems, you can also cut and resized the back long vines to promote new plant leaf. And prevent the plant from becoming long leg. Additionally, wipe the leaves with a damp cloth periodically to remove dust and keep them looking shiny and healthy.

Propagation– Philodendron are easy to growing spread from stem cutting, It also making them a great choice for beginner plant propagation. This is just simply cut from a healthy stem with a node and place it in a jar of water , or on moisture of potting mixture. Keep the cutting in a warm temperature environment with bright, Indirect sunlight, and then the roots will form within a few weeks .
