How to grow and care Jasmine Plant | Simple step Guide

Select and prepare cuttings: Select
healthy stems from the jasmine plant. Cut slightly below a leaf node using
sharp shears or pruning tools. Remove
the lowest set of leaves, leaving a couple on top of each cutting.

Potting mix: Fill small pots or containers with prepared
potting mix. Moisten the mixture slightly to help it settle.

Plant the cuttings: Create a tiny hole in the
potting mix with a pencil or your finger.
Dip the cut end of each jasmine cutting into rooting hormone (if applicable).Insert the cutting edge into the prepared hole, then gently push the soil
around it to keep it in place.

Provide ideal conditions-Place the
pots in a warm, bright spot that receives indirect sunshine. Avoid direct
sunshine, which can burn the delicate clippings. Maintain
a regular moisture level in the potting mix but avoid overwatering.
Mist the clippings on a frequent basis to keep the humidity levels stable.

Check the plant after few weeks – Be patient
and keep a careful watch on the cuts. Roots should begin to grow after a few
weeks. After a few weeks, gently tug on the cuttings to see whether they are
resistant, which indicates root development.

Transplanting- When the cuttings have grown a strong root
system, they can be moved into bigger pots or planted directly in the garden.

Care for small plants- Provide
enough sunlight and water for the young jasmine plants. Consider
using a liquid fertilizer that is balanced during the growing season
to encourage healthy growth and flowering.

How to Care Jasmine plant

Jasmine plants grow in bright, indirect sunshine. Place them near a
south or west-facing window indoors so they receive plenty of light without
being exposed to direct sunshine, which can burn their leaves.

Outdoor Placement-
If you have an outdoor jasmine plant, select a location that
receives partial sunshine. Too much shadow can prevent blossoming, while too
much direct sunlight might harm the leaves.

Watering- Maintain regular moisture in the soil without
overwatering. Water your jasmine plant when the top inch of soil is dry to the
touch. Jasmine plants enjoy somewhat wet conditions, so avoid letting the soil
dry up entirely.
Reduce Watering in Winter: To avoid waterlogging and root rot, water jasmine
plants less frequently during the winter months when they are not actively
developing.

Temperature-Jasmine grows at warm temperatures ranging
from 60°F to 75°F (15°C to 24°C). They are sensitive to cold, so avoid exposing
them to temperatures below 50°F (10°C). Jasmine plants prefer moderate humidity
conditions. If you’re growing jasmine indoors, keep a humidifier handy,
especially in the dry winter months. Mist the leaves occasionally to increase
humidity.

Fertilizer-
To fertilize your jasmine plant, apply a
balanced liquid fertilizer every 2-4 weeks during the growing season
(spring/summer). To avoid overfertilization, dilute the fertilizer to half
strength. This might lead to salt accumulation in the soil.

Reduce Fertilizing in Winter-
During the dormant winter season, reduce or
discontinue fertilization until the plant begins active growth in spring.

Prune-To maintain a healthy jasmine plant, prune it
on a regular basis. Remove any dead or diseased branches, as well as any
straggly growth.
Prune after flowering: If your jasmine plant flowers, prune it to promote new
growth and future blooms.

Support- supply Support: If you have a climbing
jasmine, supply it with a trellis or support structure to assist it grow and
spread. To provide a neat look, train the vines to grow along the support.

Pest and Disease Control– Monitor
pests. Keep a watch out for typical pests like aphids, whiteflies, and spider
mites. If you see any bugs, spray the plant with insecticide soap or neem oil.

Preventive Care-
To prevent fungal diseases like powdery mildew and root rot,
keep the plant well-ventilated and avoid overwatering.
